
Code of Ethics for the Practice
of Mold Inspection, Mold Testing,
Mold Remediation and Environmental Hygiene
Objective: The Code of
Ethics provides standards of ethical conduct for certified mold
professionals trained and certified by the Certified Mold Inspectors &
Contractors Institute and for Certified Environmental Hygienists
trained and certified by the Professional Certification Institute. For
use by such professionals as they practice their profession and
exercise their primary mission which is to protect the health and
well-being of both their clients and the general public from
microbiological and other environmental health hazards located in
Mold Environmental Services, apartments, workplaces, schools, churches, entertainment
facilities, stores and other occupied buildings of all types.
The Rules
of Ethical Conduct are as follows:
1.
Certified environmental professionals shall all practice their
profession by following recognized principles with the realization
that the lives, health, personal well-being, financial well-being and
legal well-being of both clients and the general public may depend
upon the professional's professional judgment, evaluation,
recommendations and provided services.
2. Certified
environmental professionals shall counsel affected parties factually
regarding potential risks and precautions necessary to avoid adverse
health effects.
3. Certified
environmental professionals shall keep confidential personal and
business information obtained during the exercise of their
professional activities, except when required by law or overriding
health and public safety considerations.
4. Certified
environmental professionals shall avoid circumstances and situations
wherein a compromise of professional judgment of conflict of interest
may arise.
5. Certified
environmental professionals shall perform services only within the
areas of their competency, training and certification.
6.
Certified environmental professionals shall act responsibly to uphold
the integrity of their profession and of their professional training
and certification.
